About Marin Cursillo

History of Cursillo

In 1944, Cursillo was born in Spain to revitalize interest and participation in Christianity, particularly among men, who were not attending church in great numbers.  Cursillo is a Spanish expression for “short course” in Christianity.  Since its inception, millions of Catholics and Protestants around the world have taken this “short course” and revitalized their faith and Christian service.  Cursillo has been in the Bay Area for over 50 years. Thousands in Marin and the Bay Area have participated in a Cursillo weekend.

Mission of Cursillo

The mission of Cursillo is to help us grow in faith and spirituality by recognizing Christ’s action in our personal lives and in the lives of others.  Through Cursillo we seek a deeper understanding of the teachings of Jesus and how we can serve Him.  We experience living and sharing with others in a loving and caring Christian community and come to realize that this can be extended to our own environment.  Our purpose is to love, to serve, to bring the good news to all, and to act as the Body of Christ.
