2027 Weekend Dates and Themes

A MESSAGE FROM CATHY:

Many years ago, I heard the song, “Come as you Are” by Crowder. I thought that if ever I was chosen as Rectora for a Cursillo weekend, it would be my theme. “Come as you Are” speaks to me of God’s unconditional love for all of us. Including the ones who doubt, have worries and difficult issues in their lives. I know, for me, I think that sometimes, I am not enough. My daughter and husband tell me I am more than enough and that they love me. I realize then that I am more than enough, I am a child of God and I am especially loved by Him, just the way I am.

I feel very blessed, grateful and excited about being the Rectora for the “Come as you Are” weekend. I know this will be a wonderful weekend, because it is God’s weekend, not mine.

My hope for all of you is that you find God’s precious love for yourselves on this Cursillo weekend, that you refresh your faith and have hope for the future. I am looking forward to meeting all of you for our “Come as you Are” weekend. Please consider joining us for this very special weekend.

Greeting and Peace be with you!

Marin Cursillo will be sponsoring the upcoming Men’s Cursillo weekend from Thursday evening, April 22, until Sunday afternoon, April 25, 2027.

The theme of the weekend is “Shine, Jesus, Shine!” We chose this theme and its accompanying song to ask Him to “fill this land with the Father’s glory” and to “set our hearts on fire.”

If your heart is already on fire for the Lord, this weekend is for you. If you are like me—where sometimes that fire burns bright and sometimes it fades—this weekend is for you. And if you are like I was when I was younger, afraid of getting too close to the flame lest you catch fire, then this weekend is definitely for you!

Cursillo is a movement within the Church led primarily by laypeople for laypeople, though it has been known to light a fire in many priests and ministers over its eighty-plus-year history. The weekend consists of short talks, or tiny “courses” (cursillos), followed by small group discussions and faith-sharing. It is also filled with experiences of liturgy, fellowship, laughter, and joy.

I am humbled and honored to be leading this weekend. I approach it with a bit of fear and trembling: fear that I might mess it up (though I know I can't, because it is His weekend, not mine) and trembling from all of the logistics and details that preparation demands.

Please consider saying "Yes!" to Him, and to yourself, by attending this weekend. You will not regret it. You will leave filled with the peace, love, and joy of Our Lord, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit with the men who will accompany you on the journey.
